Described as Rachmaninoff's finest accomplishment and the greatest musical achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church, the All-Night Vigil often referred to as "Vespers" is a feast for your senses. Regarded by Rachmaninoff himself as one of his favorite works, his masterpiece is Russian Romanticism at its best. TCA welcomes guest conductor Michel Marc Gervais to lead the poignant Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae by one of Finland's leading contemporary composers, Jaakko Mantyjarvi. Written to commemorate the sinking of the MS Estonia in 1994, the piece utilizes texts from the traditional Requiem Mass and the report of the disaster from a Finnish news service.
