Descarga has grown into a ten-piece band, including three vocalists, a three-piece horn section, two percussionists, piano and bass. The Desert Bluegrass Band is group of friends bound together by their love of Bluegrass music and by their work in the Desert Bluegrass Association. Bluegrass music evolved from traditional folk music in Southern Appalachia through immigrants from the British Isles. Incorporating influences from blues, ragtime, jazz, swing, gospel and old time mountain music, it features tight vocal harmonies and strong instrumental performances.
