Pima Air and Space Museum

The Pima Air and Space Museum is the world's largest privately-funded aerospace museum, funded by gate receipts, gift shop sales, memberships, donations and grants.

The Pima Air and Space Museum opened to the public in May of 1976 with 75 aircrafts on display. Since then, the museum collection has grown to over 250 aircrafts occupying 80 acres of land. The entire museum property covers about 150 acres.

    01/27/12- 05/31/12	The Boneyard Project: Return Trip Pima Air and Space Museum The Boneyard Project: Return Trip Presented by Pima Air and Space Museum at Pima Air and Space Museum January 27-May 31, 2012 Conceived in 2011 by Eric Firestone and organized by Firestone with curators Carlo McCormick, Lesley Oliver and Med Sobio, the exhibit resurrects disused airplanes from America's military history through the creative intervention of contemporary artists. Each of the artists included in the exhibit has utilized airplanes and aircraft parts found among the airplane graveyards located in the Arizona desert, known throughout the region as boneyards.

    08/01/08- Ongoing	Hangar 4 Pima Air and Space Museum Hangar 4 Presented by Pima Air and Space Museum at Pima Air and Space Museum August 1, 2008 - Ongoing Located in Hangar 4 is a pristine selection of restored aircraft and a variety of World War II-related displays, including the centerpiece, a beautifully restored B-29 "Superfortress," along with a rare P-63 "King Cobra," an F4U "Corsair, the workhorse C-46 cargo plane, a Navy TBM "Avenger" torpedo plane and more. Why simply watch a movie when you can ride one? Located in Hangar One, this ride is included in the admission price and operates daily.
