Antigone
April 7-April 17, 2011
By Sophocles with translation by Robert Fagles. Directed by Dr. Frank Pickard. A stark and powerful Greek tragedy grappling with the themes of state control, natural law and civil disobedience. Creon, the king of Thebes, forbids the burial of those who rebelled against his rule. Antigone, soon to marry Creon's son, disobeys this edict and buries her brother Polyneices; thus making her stand against the collective oppressive tyranny of the time.
