Endgame
May 16, 2010
Written some five years after Waiting for Godot, which brought Samuel Beckett international celebrity, Endgame is an equally powerful work in the radically innovative absurdist mode. Four battered survivors of some sort of global catastrophe, believing themselves the sole survivors, contemplate their inevitable and rapidly approaching ends with a variety of stratagems: mordant gallows humor, time-killing routines, half-hearted verbal sparring, remembrance of things past.
