THEATRE

Old Times
April 18, 2010
Old Times is one of the essential full-length Pinter plays, possibly his most accessible and most entertaining. It's all about love and marriage, sex and betrayal, memory and knowing, his great themes, but in a funny, eerie, dark way: three characters, two women, one man, who may or may not actually be there, locked in a triangle from which there is not, perhaps never was, any escape. The dialogue is vintage Pinter: full of coded language, meaningful silences, remarkable verbal dueling, extraordinary moments of realization and recognition experienced by both the characters and the audience.
