    Russell Bartlett

Presented by Live Acoustic Venue Association (LAVA) at Civano Neighborhood Center Courtyard

    November 19, 2009

Russell Bartlett will perform in the Civano Neighborhood Center Courtyard. Called a "true poet" by none other than the late legendary Townes Van Zandt, vagabond songwriter Russell Bartlett has mellowed considerably since his days as lead singer for Seattle grunge band "Bundle of Hiss". Bartlett who once toured with his mentor, close friend, and fellow Texan, Van Zandt, has been in the recording studio working on his seventh album, "Dark Horse". With such diverse influences as Leonard Cohen, Ray Davies, Shel Silverstein, and the late Mickey Newbury, Russell's songs defy classification. He crosses genres from acoustic-oriented folk music to foot-tapping country rock, and his lyrics range from witty to profound. According to John Conquest of Austin-based Third Coast Music, Russell "masterfully shifts, on a shiny dime, from profound poignancy to absolute hilarity". You won't want to miss this last show in the Civano Courtyard Fall Concert Series.
